Water Wings
When we arrived in the dark in the park it was wet and windy. Thankfully, despite it being New Year's Day, we had extra folks turn up to help setup Parkrun which was a good job as the meadow had gone from sticky to needing water wings overnight and the river was raging and pretty high.
I was Run Director so had to make decisions about the course on the meadow. Event Director Chris and Tony gave their opinions and the upshot was Tony moved the cones to take runners and walkers away from the grassy uphill which after four laps would definitely be churned up (and we didn't want to fall out with the park folks). Unfortunately there was now a large puddle to be negotiated on the path and park runners divided into the group who skirted the boggy edge and those who went through the middle.
We only had one faller, a speedy runner who didn't take the downhill carefully, but he bounced back up and finished in second place!
The rain returned for the slower folks sadly but they retained their good humour and everyone enjoyed themselves and earned second breakfasts. Back home we had welcome cuppas, showered and I passed most of the afternoon processing the very poor photos.....how do you take sharp photos in gloom and rain when people are moving quickly (and often wearing dark clothes)?
Happy New Year Everyone! Thank you for your lovely comments on my 15th Blipyear yesterday xx
