New year

We enjoyed another night of high winds and lashing rain, thanks to the Lord we were safe and warm within Amadeus. ParkRun was cancelled in case a tree fell down on top of us and so we delayed our exit a little while. Stream clearing was still needed and the weather helped with a good flow of water carrying the debris far down stream.
Into the woods for some respite from the weather and to hang up another peanut feeder. Lots of tits were feeling on the other feeder and within a minute they adopted the “new” one as well. I diverted some of the torrents of water away from the path and cleared some leaves and branches too.
We returned soggy but satisfied with our progress. A phone call from a client who was in the vicinity for a break with family and in laws resulted in arrangements for a catch up in Okehampton for lunch and a long awaited face to face meeting.
A delightful young family with energy not dissimilar to that of Dippy’s, unfortunately Dippy had to stay on his blanket in the car.
Belstone was our next destination just a couple of miles away from where we were. The heavy rain provided a stunning opportunity to see Dartmoor in a most beautiful and powerful window. The recent storm had decimated lots of trees in the area, especially alongside the river. Post card in extras.
We didn’t come across any sheep but the ponies were very busy munching on the grass as we headed towards home.
Cold water Norwegian prawns with olives and wholesome sourdough bread and butter followed by some more apple, mincemeat and marzipan topped with double cream. I enjoyed a Horlicks made with oat milk which helped send me to the land of nod.
Zzzzzz
