Fresh start

Once we were all up I made pancakes for breakfast then everyone showered and got started on some virtuous activities…AR doing some homework, Mt&H did some work and Mx and I tackled a clear out of the fridge and a check of expiry dates. Well, suffice it to say I have very few jars left! Mx obviously has a career in Health and Safety ahead of him…he was forensic in his checking. I lived up to Boomer expectations by having loads that were past their Use By dates…several older than him! (The oldest was 2012… but surely lime pickle is ageless?!!). At one point it started to snow but it was very wet and didn’t settle, although A sent photos of Soutra pass which was covered in quite deep snow!
After finishing the fridge, and then all the cleaning up, I made some lunch. H played the magnet game Kluster with them…they love it and were screeching with laughter as they played.
We decided to get out for a while and headed down to the Museum where they had lots of entertainment on. The big puppeteer controlled ‘robots’ walking around were amazing, but Ar&Mx were keener on going to see the fossils, stuffed animals, volcano and geology sections (AR loves gems and geodes etc).
I swapped with H to bring Higgs home and let her join the others and LE came round for a natter and, once they were back, some fizz and nibbles. Chatted about cats, what we’ve done over the last week, and house refurbs and purchases.
Once she left, the kids made their own pizzas (as Mx said, ‘Let’s put these bad boys in the oven’) and devoured them and then we all watched an episode of the Famous Five series on iplayer. They were both transfixed and really enjoyed it. We ate the lentil moussaka (Bosh recipe…very tasty!) and Delia’s chocolate torte that I’d made earlier whilst we watched an episode of H and AR’s favourite, Queer Eye.
Another lovely day to start our New Year.
