Innocent Cherub

I walked past our dustbins and was silently outraged at the number of items carelessly dumped on the ground rather than carefully placed in the appropriate bin.
The feral children in the flat above us leave a trail of discarded items as if there has been a hurricane.

While ranting under my breath I saw this tiny glass cherub, a Christmas tree ornament, glowing in the last rays of the sun, its gilded edges attracting my attention.
One of a matching pair, it must have got lost while dumping the old tree before Christmas
And so we too were guilty of adding to the pile of detritus.

As I gently retrieved it, did I equally silently apologise to the neighbours?

Not a chance!
