The Afterburn
This morning I was woken up at 4am by the Police. It took me a while to figure out what they were saying, it didn't compute at first.
"We've recovered your vehicle"
"My vehicle"? "Oh my god where's my car"?!
"It's been involved in a collision, would you be able to identify a shoe"?
"A shoe"?
"Do you know what shoes your son was wearing tonight"?
"...My son??..... MY SON?! Identify?! Oh dear god what's happened"?!
"We believe there were three people in the car at the time it collided with the telegraph pole, a witness saw them doing a runner".
"UGH, they all did a runner, they're all ok"?!
"We believe so".
"Oh thank god, thank god, thank god"........ "wait... my son crashed my car and did a runner?!.........I'm gonna kill him"!!!
Funny how the second you know they're safe you want to kill them with your bare hands isn't it?! To cut a long story short, it wasn't him, water tight alibi and not his shoe.
So my car has been stolen, it's a right off, and I actually couldn't really care less. No one was killed, no one hurt, it's just metal. Whoever it was who legged it is someones boy.
Decorated cakes with the kids for a friends birthday tomorrow,
Took a nap on the sofa with the baby,
Went our for dinner with friends and the fam,
Watched this beautiful sunset and said a little thank you to the universe.
