GIANT BUMBLEBEE

This was the first day I've seen these enormous bees. They are easily four times as large (maybe more) as the typical bumblebees - at least twice as long and twice as wide & thick. It is obviously a male because the back legs don't have the pollen sacks (only the females have those), and it's not nearly as fuzzy. It's busy gathering nectar for the hive, but not pollen. He definitely looks like a bumblebee but I'm surprised by the size. (There were three or four working on these flowers, so I know it wasn't the queen.)

I'd like to have had a more creative blip today - and certainly not another bee, but since nothing fantastic came along, this giant bee will have to be my commemorative 100th blip. Now on to 365!
