Grenoble

The weather has changed and we woke to freezing fog. I had to take mum to do a bit of food shopping in Chabeuil first thing and the road was slippery. I had to drive to Grenoble to take Julian and Katya to the airport so asked them to be ready a bit earlier to give us plenty of time. We had to go via my sister's to pick up a couple of bottles of Clairette to take back to Scotland, and wile we were there, I received a panicked phone call from Lucie, asking to come back and pick her up. She was meant to go t Toulouse and meet friends for new year and I am not too sure what the story is but she was adamant that she wanted to go back to Scotland...By then the flight was delayed by one hour so went back to pick her up - it is a very short drive but she'd managed to pack in that time!  During the drive to Grenoble she also managed to book a very cheap flight to Edinburgh from Chambéry and a train to Chambéry from Grenoble.. Thankfully, the freezing fog lifted and we had a pleasant drive.
I dropped Julian and Katya at Grenoble airport and went to Grenoble city centre with Lucie, there we had a late lunch and a bit of a wander in the old town before her train to Chambéry.
I had ideas of taking the cable car to the Bastille and be there for the sunset, but the mist was coming back and I was tired, so decided to go back. I stopped on the way to take this photo, then received another panicked call from Lucie; she has missed her stop for the airport, and was at the next station trying to find a taxi - it's a 15-minutes drive. The number she had didn't work and she asked me to try. It didn't work for me either. She had just about one hour before her plane. Eventually, she found a taxi and just managed to get there on time!  Phew!
I got back to mum's much later than I thought and quite tired.
