Reservoir walk

A regular walk but with some flood evidence to the road and eventually was told what had happened, a normally small stream which is channels above the buildings became blocked with debris and the water ran down the hill and through a garage and workshop. A cleanup operation was in progress.

I met Charlie who is now a licensed bird ringer and lives just a few streets away so we have to look out for some of the birds he has caught and released. He says over 35 Blue Tits so we much see one soon but also Great Spotted Woodpecker. We do see a Female regularly and it may that is one of his ringed birds.

Successes on the walk were a brief view of a Kingfisher (no luck with photo), a pair of Goosander, Cormorant, Kestrel and 40+ Redwings.

The last ever episode of Vera on ITV tonight was very well done with a proper ending, no leaving the audience thinking will she won’t she do this or that ?   Thanks to all involved for getting it right. 

The last 2 episodes were of such a higher standard of writing and production that it does make me wonder what those involved think when they look back at one or two of the inferior efforts in recent years.
