Care 2 Guess?
These are NOT Nuts n' Bolts.
Well, okay, maybe they're SPECIAL Nuts n' Bolts.....
called Bat Pins.
You won't find them at any hardware store, though.
You must go to a Ceramics or Pottery vendor to get them for use on the Potter's Wheel.
Some Potter's Wheels have the option to have these pins screwed into holes on opposite sides of the wheel with the smooth head topside.
Then you can twist-attach the flat bat boards (they come round or square, small or large) onto them, throw your piece in progress, then twist-remove the bat to make a different piece using another bat.
This is useful when you are doing "production" work like mugs, bowls or cups because it goes much faster than having to cut your piece from the wheel, trim the piece, clean the wheel, then start the next piece.
It also reduces trim time because as the piece dries naturally it will unstick itself from the bat so there is no need to wire remove it to trim the bottom.
I bought these Bat pins for my personal use as they are not a class supplied item.
