Copacabana

Copacabana Beach was named in the 1960s by real estate developers after the famous Brazilian beach. It’s a surfing and swimming beach with a short string of cafes. The land above the beach is steep and the new houses mostly have multiple levels to make the most of the view.

The sand on this part of the coast is a warm honey gold (extra), very different from the white sands of WA. The currents are treacherous: the red and yellow flags in the extra mark the narrow strip of patrolled beach where it is safer to swim.
