The True Gritters
Started this morning with a 'joyful new year' yoga class. I was in the studio for the first class of the year and it was a deep stretch. The class was about 75 minutes in duration and I was very happy to have the final 10 lying on my mat.
I had to come home quite smartly afterwards to get changed into something less flimsy because I was part of today's 'true gritters' squad. There's a group of local volunteers who grit the pavements in the neighbourhood. There are four new hoppers which work well with salt but less so with grit. A design fault. A useful activity though and sociable. Our next door neighbours are storing the hopper and shovel which we can use and we all have hi viz jackets to wear.
It's still very cold and in the shade the pavements are icy and slippy so it's a good thing to do.
Took down the Christmas decorations yesterday as is my habit and I'm enjoying the lack of clutter. I'm going to get the heated propagator out and plant some chilli seeds this afternoon to give them the best start I can.
