Gone to seed...

Another brilliant blue sky day, so I decided on a quick visit to Hampton Court.

The kitchen garden was looking understandably a little bare, although there was evidence of a lot of fresh planting going on despite the frost. 

I'm assuming that this artichoke was allowed to go to seed deliberately, otherwise it would seem an awful waste. Extra number one is a much smaller artichoke in the same patch, showing the effects of the frost. 

Extra number two of the crescent moon was going to be the headliner, but other people have posted lots of more interesting shots
