A grand day out on New Year's Day

A few days ago I woke up with a strange desire to go to Ingleton falls, especially given the large amount of rain which had fallen. So without batting an eyelid my husband booked a couple of nights away in Kendal hence out little break away. When we woke up today to go the weather was awful but I had decided we were going so I phoned to check the Falls were  open given the vast amount of rainfall and was told yes they were open as long as I didn't want to go in!
So off we went and I was not disapponted, they were spectacular! The rain stopped and by lunchtime the sun actually came out for a brief time, see extras. It was a great day and lots of steps to work off the cooked breakfast!
It did however make me think about everyone flooded out and the thought of this volume of water rushing down my street and into my home made me shiver. My brother's football team have had their clubhouse and pitch badly flooded. They have had a good response from the local commjunity to help with the initial clearup but he reckons it will be a long while - if ever, before they get the club house back to a useable condition as they are unable to insure it due to a flood a few years ago. I hope anyone affected gets all the help they need.
