A time for everything

“Joy to the World”

This was the name given to this year’s exhibit of crèches or nativity scenes at the Marian Library at the University of Dayton, a private Catholic University. The library collection began in 1984, and now contains around 3,400 crèches. Only a fraction are on display at any one time, but every Christmas they present a special Christmas exhibit with a different theme each year. Last year was the first year I became aware of it, and therefore the first year we visited. I had wanted to get up before Christmas, but time ran out, and we had to leave it until after Christmas. So this year’s theme focused on nativities containing instruments of some sort or showing people singing, and some were linked to particular carols.. you could access audio via your phone to hear the carols. It was a cold day today, with occasional sunny intervals, but also a biting wind. However, this is nothing to what we have coming next week. By Thursday, the high temperature is forecast to be a high of 17F ( -8 C) and a low of 1F ( -17C)!
The forecast had called for the possibility of snow flurries overnight, but they didn’t materialize down here, however up in Dayton, just about a 45 minute drive north, there was a distinct dusting of snow. We have a bigger chance of getting snow, starting Sunday early afternoon, extending into Monday morning.
My afternoon was spent at home, playing the piano, and unpicking some knitting. I noticed last night I had made a mistake in the pattern almost 2 inches back - arghh!! This is a prayer shawl I’m knitting, with 127 stitches to a row! It’s not as if it’s a difficult pattern, but I obviously got confused with which row I was on! So frustrating!
