Tracks in the Snow

I am pretty sure these are red squirrel tracks, The small size, less than 2 inches, and four pointy toes seem right.  Squirrels are rodents, and like all rodents they have four toes on their hand-like front feet and five toes on their hind feet.  It appears the tracks in front have five toes, two toes together, and are further apart as back feet usually are but the placement seems reversed, and it is strange that these are the only tracks.  Just four wee tracks.  A balmy 18 F this morning.  The serious cold starts tomorrow.
