Getting the sparkle back

View from Waterston House

Waterston House is the headquarters of the Scottish Ornithologists’ Club, just the Edinburgh side of Aberlady in East Lothian. I’ve blipped this view many times before, either from inside the art gallery as today, or outside from the decking. I think this is the most wintry version. I also saw the current exhibition which was a bit of a puzzle to me, being paintings inspired by the Ladybird books “What to look for in… Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter”, published 1959-60. The artist, Jonathan Sainsbury, took the illustrations as a starting point for his own paintings and his paintings followed these to a greater or lesser extent.

T was working there this weekend and we managed to have lunch together, along with someone who used to work there and his partner. It wasn't as cold today, above freezing and the ground was thawing out. My car didn't throw too many wobblers at me today I’m glad to say. I could do with spending some time with it and the (digital) instructions. I need to be in a calm and patient mood to begin with, although I can’t say what mood I will finish in.
