Esoteric circuit

We'd planned a short up and down but we knew we had to be flexible based on the road conditions. After parking at the farm (with sheet ice beyond, a road closed sign and a helpful farmer), we ended up enjoying a wonderful ascent, almost immediately onto ice crusted grass. We headed up along a weaving track with increasing views through the mist and soon into this beautiful light layer of snow before reaching the summit of Whernside where we found a few people. Barely a breeze!  It was then straight down and along the single-lane road - which, covered in snow, still felt wild - to finish. We had a little reminisce of this road on bikes too - it's a stunning valley.

And a cafe on the way home to refuel. 

We felt like these conditions were well deserved after our other two Three Peaks this week!
