Franz Josef Glacier
After breakfast we took a short drive to the area where we could walk to see the glacier, which involved carrying Amber on my back, as J was feeling under the weather. The walk was short but there were some inclines. The glacier was visible at the top of the valley and there was a board showing how much it had receded since 1865. In essence in the photo above, it would have come right down to the riverbed. Afterwards there was a period when nobody could decide what they wanted to do next but we ended up at a cafe for lunch and watched some of the helicopter flights take off and land. We then all went for another short walk in the forest.
