Wee Gang

A few months ago I was contacted by a guy, Donald, who lived in Blackford in the mid 60s.  I was the same age as his younger brother Graham (who sadly died a few years ago).  They left Blackford in the 70s sometime.  He was asking about some mutual friends and exchanged some knowledge of people we know.  Today he sent me a picture that he got from his Aunt, which I was really interested in as my Dad is one of the boys in the photo.

Dad is top left and they are around 10 years old so this is from 1937/38.  It seems they have been making bogies, I wonder if kids nowadays do this.  We used to do this in the 60s, collecting bits of woods and wheels and had some great fun.  They mostly had four wheels though and would go careering down the Slack Dale, one of the hills nearby.  I also notice that they are all wearing knitted vest tops, they look real scallywags !  I wish my Dad was here to ask him more about this.

Today was bitterly cold, so not much of a hardship being stuck at home.  S was away to Forfar to a Curling tournament so left at 9 and back around 9pm.
I did the jigsaw, I watched Series 2 of the Diplomat, listened to the top 40 Elvis songs on iPlayer (really enjoyed this), a few episodes of Dessert Islands Discs, Cher was interesting.  Iced the toe, did some sewing, made my tea, cleared out a cupboard.....

That's a week now been laid up with the broken toe!
