RSPB Lochwinnoch

I looked out of the window with trepidation this morning to find no snow at all despite the forecast. It was still icy from yesterday, and bitterly cold but fine for driving so off we headed to RSPB Lochwinnoch.
Lots of birds today, the cold weather must have brought them out of hiding. On Bar Loch there were lots of tufted ducks, mute swans, one whooper swan, a couple of herons and several goldeneye. On the feeders at the visitor centre, goldfinches, blue tits, coal tits, great tits and the collared dove in my main along with the pretty female blackbird in the first extra. Just a bit further on a beautiful redwing landed up above and stayed for just long enough for a quick shot, 2nd extra.
A great morning’s bird spotting, some fresh air and exercise. Snow now forecast for tonight.
