New growth
Woke up to less snow than there had been at 4 am. Had my last lazy get up for a while. Men all assembled to watch the Steelers' NFL game that they'd recorded from last night.
Made a huge pot of soup from our left over vegetables. An unusual combination of carrot, celery, onion, swede, celeriac, sweet potato and a can of cannelini beans. Enough for lunch today, 2 lunches for tomorrow and 2 portions for the freezer.
The snow melted quickly with the rain. It was really warm outside after the last few cold days. We planted daffodils in the pots by the front door when we replanted them with violas. The bulbs are growing fast and seem to have survived being eaten by the local squirrels. The clump of primroses that we dug up from A's garden when the house was sold in spring 2020 are flowering and have spread into the grass. A lovely reminder of MIL.
Quiet day with a bit of crochet, a bit of work and some more family history. I've been able to track the family who were in the workhouse as children in 1901 to slightly better circumstances in 1921.
Back to work tomorrow. I expect it will be cold as the building has been closed for 2 weeks.
