Waterloo Sunset
I opted to work today so that I could use my final day of 2024 holiday allocation for a long weekend. A few more people were back in the office today, which made for a nice catch-up in the morning meeting. But I was mainly sitting at my desk doing a bunch of small administrative and sorting tasks; there was not a lot of need for anything from me. By about 3:30 pm, I could move to being available by Slack only while I headed for Waterloo at the 4:30 pm train to Portsmouth.
Today’s picture is a scene at Waterloo Station during sunset. In the foreground, there’s my South Western Railway train for Portsmouth on the platform, with a person walking alongside it. A red signal light is prominently displayed above the tracks. The background features several modern buildings, including a distinctive curved structure, and the Vauxhall skyline is faintly visible in the distance.
The journey was on time and uneventful. I read most of the time. The crossing was pleasant but cold and damp when we arrived at Ryde Pier. We spent the evening in the flat watching Vera's New Year episode.
