Burning Christmas
Blipped this burnt Christmas tree on the beach on my way into the charity shop this morning.
There is historical precedent for a Christmas tree bonfire: tradition has it that families kept their yule logs burning until the 12th day after Christmas. The burning of the Christmas trees symbolizes the end of the holiday season; it also is loosely affiliated with Epiphany on the Christian and Orthodox calendars.
In other news, I popped the car into my local garage to sort a slow puncture , before then having a professional passport photo taken by a local photographer.. My passport is due up for renewal in May and we tried using the mobile phone yesterday and the results were not good. The Government website said my photo was poor and also I looked about a hundred, hence going to a professional local photographer. I was pleased with the end result.
Another thing that stood out was that both preferred to be paid in cash (without prompting ) and as I had enough on me, I did so. Turns out that they begrudge paying an extra 50p per transaction. The photographer said he has started charging those paying by card and xtra 50p to cover the charge. Totally understandable.
Anyway, picked up my migraine prescription after that and now back home.
I reckon this has been a good day so far, hooe yours is similarly good.
