…hauled by a modern class 248 locomotive. This is a dual mode engine alternatively powered by a medium sized Diesel engine or by electricity (as shown here on the main line Frankfurt to Heidelberg). Independent of an overhead wire this locomotive can conduct shunting operations on sidetracks and use non-electrified lines, e.g. in case of diversions.
