The day started with a temperature inversion. The mist in the valley kept rising above the house then dropping. I lost count of how many times.
There was an email from Sainsbury’s to let me know that my grocery delivery would arrive between 9.55 and 10.55.
I got dressed, fed the birds, put the recycling from the inside boxes into the outside ones, tidied the kitchen and reorganised the freezer contents.
Then I waited. 10.55 and a text message . . . deliveries running late. 15 minutes later a friendly and helpful delivery man appeared.
I’d just put things away when the phone rang . . . a friend calling for a chat.
Then lunch and by the time I’d finished the sky was cloudy. I decided against a walk, went into the garden for a blip and very soon afterwards there was precipitation. . . a mix of sleet and snow.
It did brighten later but I decided to stay in and keep warm.
