Evening shadows

The weather forecast did say it was going to clear up today, but I wasn't expecting brilliant sunshine, a cloudless sky, and 14 degrees. Plus, even more extraordinary, not a breath of wind. It would have been rude not to go for a walk in the circumstances.

On the way back, I called in to see Sue, who has been in palliative care in hospital for the last two months. She was desperate to get home, so the hospital decided to do a trial. Sadly it's not going to be possible long term -- the only reason it's working now is because her friend H has moved in for the duration. She can't be left on her own, and the only provision from the hospital is two short nurse visits a day.

She was very happy to be home yesterday, and insisted on doing various domestic tasks. She eventually fell asleep at 11 pm, and was still sound asleep when I visited at 4 pm today. The nurse who visited at 5 loudly woke her up, so H and I seized the opportunity to make her a cup of tea and have a chat, but she was very woozy. H was worried she'd be awake all night, but I think she's probably still got some sleeping to do ... I am glad she's come home, I'm sure it's done her good, but sad that she'll be back in hospital in a couple of days.
