Painted Lady

I was so excited this morning having seen this butterfly as I had never seen one before, but apparently it is in the same family as the Red Admiral and just as large, but therefore probably rather common! With a name like that it goes without saying!

PS. Thanks for the information about this butterfly coming all the way from N. Africa, this sort of fact is so humbling.
