Chilly Dog

To watch a baby is to be awestruck by the enormous hunger of the human mind. This tiny person with a huge apetite for experience, knowledge and understanding. Every look has an undercurrent of analysis; every action is an experiment; every movement a step in self-discovery. They draw information to themselves so hard that you can almost feel the wind

We watchers see the consequences in the daily, weekly changes: purpose, planning, execution, co-ordination, dexterity, communication, awareness, reaction

But what about humour; where does that come from and why? Not just smiles of recognition and affection - it's easy to see a biological purpose in that. But the obvious delight and laughter in interaction, in games and silliness, the sheer enjoyment of play. That is not taught or learned; it is inherent in us, spontaneous, foundational. The pure joy of existence

The best of us retain at least a little of that thirst for understanding and that joy, despite everything we come to know and grieve. To watch a baby is to know it is worth clinging to

Today we got another dose of joy and wonder. The view of the park was a bonus
