Work in Progress

Back on 13th September 2023, I blipped this building in a rather poor state of repair.

The exterior has now had a new coat of paint and work is currently in progress within and around the lower stories.

Actually not just paint.  Old cement rendering has been removed and replaced by lime rendering after cleaning/repairing the underlying stonework.

The clock still requires repairs and the three* clock faces are all showing different times.  (*There is no clockface on the seaward side.)

The building is the Tolbooth in West Wemyss, Fife.  It dates from 1525 but the tall tower was not added until 1700.  The current clock was installed in 1901.
