Tree planting with Essex Forest Initiative
Tree planting, this time in Great Totham. We were planting a wildlife corridor across a landowner's field and a wood at the bottom of the hill. 450 saplings today and a second row of similar numbers tomorrow. There was some discussion about the use of plastic supports for the saplings. Better that the rabbits don't chew the new growth, and it let's the light in - but the long term environmental issues are not good. Good to know that with all the rain recently, the trees have a good chance of survival, in fact some of the ground was very squelchy. I was glad to be wearing my good walking boots. By chance, one of the volunteers was a retired colleague of G (JohnK). We both enjoyed catching-up, chatting about family and sharing news - small world. I returned home, tired and hungry.
The evening was an early dinner followed by a call with Cno1 whilst watching the Traitors. It was thrilling programme. No spoilers, but good to see some 'old' faces.
