Vitiated
Yesterday’s sketch of a YouTube speaker. He used the word “vitiated”, which I had to look up - vitiate means to mar or spoil something.
Another new word today: anchoress. An anchoress is a female recluse who withdraws from society to lead a religious life. Some old churches had anchorholds, cells built on to them to house the hermit. People would take them food, and in some cases they had a peephole through which they could watch the church services. This came up in a humorous historian’s review of Monty Python’s “Search for the Holy Grail”.
