All over the place
Strange day. Realising that winging it is all I am suppposed to do. Coming to terms with mediocrity: mine, theirs... Getting my CELTA result (no surprise).
I taught a group this afternoon who were as exhausted as I was. Nothing I said provoked a reaction, they just slumped. They weren't hostile - I don't think they'd have had enough energy for that even if they'd wanted to be. Finally, by sitting at the same table as them and commiserating, I got them stirring. And then they started to respond, then work, then initiate! By the end of the lesson they were all engaged. I was so pleased. They were alert enough to be amused at the idiom I gave them to take home: blood out of a stone.
