Sunshine and ice

We were going to head towards Windermere but, as we were not sure what the roads would be like, we decided to go next week. Instead we went to Penrith, had breakfast at Cranstons and shopped in Booths. We were surprised to find that Penrith had had more snow than us, it is usually the other way round. It would seem that a lot of places have had more snow than us actually. 

A lovely bright day with blue skies and lots of sunshine, but oh so very, very cold. As we headed home we came across these icicles on the Settle/Carlisle railway bridge at Long Marton. At the same time, the sun was shining on the mossy walls. Seemed to sum up this winter's day.
