Sunset in Unterankenreute
Today started with an early flight from Dublin to Memmingen in southern Germany. Memmingen has been renamed 'Munich-West' by Ryanair. Technically this is correct, but it is in fact some distance from Munich.
The location was just fine for our purposes, as we (me, Mum, sister and her husband) were travelling on to Unterankenreute, which is near Weingarten, which is near Ravensburg, which is where my brother will get married tomorrow. Unterankenreute is the family home of the bride to be and we had a wonderful evening in the company of her parents Fritz and Ulrike and one of her close friends Brigitte.
On a clear day, you can see the Alps from Fritz and Ullie's garden. All around is lush and green country with fields of wheat and corn and stunning forests. Apparently it was 35 degrees here on Sunday, but there had been a storm overnight and this was followed by torrential rain all day today. Looking at this sunset, we all felt very hopeful that the weather will be fine tomorrow for the happy couple. We had such a wonderful evening and were spoiled rotten with a home cooked four course meal and lots of locally produced wine. All are excited for tomorrow!
