Play Day

This morning we took the kids by train into Edinburgh for a 'Play Day' in the High Street - a council (dis)organised thing for youngsters.

There were things like make a huge spider web, the worlds slowest balloon sculptor, a huge sandpit (on the pavement where council staff spent the whole time trying to move parents away so that people could walk past ...... were the kids just to be left?), plate spinning/diabo spinning/juggling balls (without any teaching or instruction), playing with buckets of water and teaching about growing vegtables etc - whilst making mud/mud pies (yep ....... that is going to help learn about how to grow plants).

All in all it wasn't well organised at all which was a real shame because it had so much potential.

We had our sandwiches in the peace and quiet of the walkway in front of what used to be the High Court at the back of St Giles.

Can anyone tell me when Adam Smith appeared on the pavement next to the Mercat Cross?
I can't remember seeing him there before and I am damned sure it isn't a new statue ...... so where did he come from?

The train now leaving ...................... is NOT the one you have been waiting on.
It has been cancelled because it was going to be a few minutes late.
Grrrrrrrrrrr
It was showing as having left Glasgow on time and arriving in Edinburgh on time but was then marked as cancelled just after its due departure time.
Why do they do that?
Why do they tell you so late?
They know it is going to happen (on this occation for at least 20 minutes) but they don't give you time to make other arrangements.
It is bloody infuriating and the staff are just downright rude when you try to find out if there will be a knock-on effect.
