Ice Dip and Swim

Turned up at Fell Foot for our regular early morning swim to find "Site Closed, danger of snow and ice" signs everywhere, even by the hole in the wall where we sneak in when the gate is padlocked. We opted not to sneak in and swim but snuck in for a quick walk and to take photos - Blip sorted. 
After breakfast, which we felt we had not earned because we'd not been in the water, we drove to High Dam. Walked all around trying to find a patch that wasn't frozen. Extra is me in the water bashing the ice with my flask to make a hole to dip in. . On the way back down we met a chap with an ice saw who promised a bigger hole but were happy with our dip . (water was 1.5ºC) . And I think that's my first ice dip. 

Drove back past Fell Foot to find it open. Nipped in for a quick swim just to check the temperature. A barmy  5.5ºC
