Ice Art: Painted Desert Serenade

We've been having some frigid weather here in central Pennsylvania. The nights this week are in the teens, and ooh baby, it's COLD outside. It's been far too breezy for frozen bubbles, alas, but the cold is indeed making ice.

My husband brought in one of the bird water bowls, which had frozen over, and I did my usual fun stuff with it. I got out my headlamp and some blue plastic butterflies that had just arrived in the mail, and I put them under my ice. My husband came by with a light-up Christmas tree: his offering for my artistic adventure. I took pictures with the overhead lights on, then in the dark.

The blue butterflies gave me some very nice blue hues on my ice, and somehow it all ended up sort of shimmering in shades of blue and gold, like sand and sky: perhaps, a painting of the desert.

So here is today's image, a confection made of ice and light and Christmas trees and butterflies. Our soundtrack song is Joshua Kadison, with Painted Desert Serenade.
