A good day out.

Today we went to see the Wildlife photographer of the year exhibition at the National History Museum. Very surprised that the museum was so busy and also the exhibition room too so not as relaxed to see the exhibits as in previous years. There seemed to be a big emphasis on very small organisms….the winning photos were tadpoles in a lake in Australia and microorganisms in the litter layer in a wood. Less of the birds and mammals than in previous years and also less drone shots.

I then walked past Harrods…a brief visit inside but didn’t buy anything..I  like the  food hall but it seems to shrink every year with more ‘restaurants’ , more handbags and perfumes etc!

We met friends for lunch at the Lanesborough Hotel, this is the third year we have done this for my Birthday. It was as good as usual. The restaurant is such a lovely room and the service was  great…the same restaurant manager as before who is so welcoming and friendly. There is a very good Travelzoo offer at the moment for a three course lunch which is very good value considering the surroundings etc. we stayed chatting for nearly three hours as we have not seen these friends for months and were not rushed out as happens in some places.
