Devil's Punchbowl

Just off the A3 near the Hogs Back and Hindhead tunnel. "Legend has it that the devil spent his time tormenting the god Thor by pelting him with enormous handfuls of earth, leaving the great bowl that visitors can see today. In reality the large depression was created by erosion as water percolated down and hit an impervious layer of clay". Penny & Steve with Ottilie and Layla went for a walk here today. Very cold and beautiful blue sky.
I have spent the day driving down to Cornwall. A bit of a delay on the A303 as a very large convoy of tractors and hay lorries were staging a go slow protest. They were very strategic about this with the tractors spaced about 100 yards apart. And then the fewer hay lorries would every few minutes move into the outside lane - so there was no chance of passing! I have sympathy with the farmers. However it was a tad frustrating. No matter, I had 1 stop at Podimore Services as usual and reached Treen just after 7. I am calling it a day now.
