The fix :-)
When I photographed the jay yesterday, I was a little excited and just took the picture forgetting to put the brakes on my walker !! The lens hood was in the walker's bag as the sun was behind me and the hood for the the Olympus 100-400 has always been a poor fit and I did not want to loose it. Well the walker decided to go on it's own walk and disappeared down the bank beside the path, luckily 2 friends were with me and rescued the walker. When I got home the lens hood was not in the bag so must have fallen out !
Today I went to LCE (London Camera Exchange) in Lincoln and delved through their bit box of old discarded bits and bobs, it took a while but I found the short 72 mm hood for a wide angle lens and the canon hood, I picked out a few other bits that I thought might be useful , so for £5 and some industrial strength super glue I now have a decent lens hood for the 100-400 which won't slip off as this will screw into the filter thread rather than just clip on :-)
