Life Celebrations
Life sometimes has a funny way of reminding you what life itself is all about. My grandmother passed away this morning after nearly 96 years of life. She led a full and positive life. She always claimed she didn't know what it was like to be bored. With so much in this life, how could one possibly ever get bored? Life, to her, was just too interesting.
Interestingly enough, today was also the celebration of my nephew's (my grandma's youngest great-grandchild's) first birthday. I love first birthday celebrations, and I can appreciate what major milestones they are...for both the child and the parents. And I think for many people, first birthdays, more than other birthdays, are in some ways more for the entire family -- including grandparents -- to celebrate than for the child.
A sad day in many respects, but also a day to celebrate the entire spectrum of life. Be in peace, Gram. And, happy birthday, Jack -- here's to many, many more interesting years.
