Angel

I went for an early-ish walk. It was very icy and very slippery. At least it was daylight. The city centre was just starting to wake up, but it was quiet. I even risked walking down The Shambles. It was quite quiet, apart from a queue for a ghost shop which wasn’t even open that early. On my way back home, I risked walking across a particularly icy pavement to get to the sourdough bakery!

It was then home for breakfast and to pack up. Later in the morning TT suggested a wee walk, before our drive home. We decided to cut our visit short due to the weather warnings. We departed about noon, and headed up the road.

We stopped for our picnic at The Angel of the North. We have driven past it so many times, but this is the first time we have ever stopped at it. According to the sign it was erected in 1998. It was freezing, so we didn’t hang around. Had a quick look, ate our sandwiches, then continued on our way.

We got home to find BB lying on the sofa. His rugby training was cancelled on Thursday and again today due to frozen pitches. He was rather grumpy.

We had a quiet evening. TT prepped his marmalade.

This is the Angel in the late afternoon winter sun.
