Fixed
My neighbour and I tackled the broken mailboxes this morning.
Contrary to my first impressions yesterday, mine was not beyond repair. I filled it with boiling water to soften the plastic, and then used an offcut of a 4x4 post to pound it back into shape again. More or less. It bears its wounds well.
I had a spare fence post in my timber yard to replace the one which was broken off at ground level, which W dug out. Then it was just a case of a bit of carpentry and bingo, we have mailboxes ready to filled to overflowing with tomorrow morning's post. (As if).
The other news of the day is much less cheery. Poor old Bean developed awful diarrhoea overnight, which has continued off and on all day, despite starvation rations. I don't know if this is a result of something she drank or ate yesterday, or if it is another side effect of the steroids she is on for her toenail problem. I shall be talking to the vet on the phone in the morning if she's no better... I am really quite worried about her because she usually shakes tummy upsets off quickly. At least she's not being sick as well, which is a small mercy.
I've not visited any Blip journals today I'm afraid. I have been keeping myself physically busy to try to keep my mind off the Bean dog's woes.
Later update...I decided to call the vet today and happily the one in whom I have the most confidence is this weekend's emergency vet. She knows Bean well. She is pretty sure that it is a bug or something Bean has eaten, and that the steroids are making it a bit tougher for her to recover. None of the symptoms I described rang any alarm bells and I just need to keep up her fluids and keep her warm and comfortable. Here's hoping she's more like herself in the morning.
