Ice Ice Baby!

Ice at last!!

Redbrook was completely frozen, I don't think I've ever seen a full body of water frozen before, it was so beautiful. I managed to walk along the path this time, but it was rather precarious and Pat gave up half way. The trodden snow was right on the edge of a thirty foot steep slope and I knew if I went down I'd never get up again lol.

A man and his daughter were there just ahead of me. We all just walked on the frozen water. It was so thick, there was no way of breaking it. I hadn't taken a hammer or anything suitable to smash ice, but I don't think it would have been easy at all. Near the little bridge there was a little bit of water where the overflow goes downhill. The man said he was going to try and get in. A few other swimmers arrived and we said we would let him be the guinea pig and were there to pull him out if there was a problem. It turned out to be knee deep so we all decided to go in. It wasn't easy over wet slippy ice and the large stones underfoot, but I got in. Oh my, the water was painful but it was fabulous to hold the huge slabs of ice.

My Victorian swim costume had arrived so I took it to put on before I dipped for a quick photo. One of the other swimmers took a pic for me. There are some other pics in extras.

I was very wary walking back to the car as my feet were frozen stumps, but I made it and Pat was sitting on the style in the sunshine waiting for me. The views up there on the Moor were stunning.
