Hawick….

…on a Sunday afternoon in winter is a bleak proposition. Nevertheless, we chose to visit today as we’d not done much investigating in the south west of the county.

Earlier, Nancy and I nipped into the gym for a spot of sweatiness whilst we waited for Owen to arrive in Gala on the train.

Earlier earlier, as I was chewing on my breaky toast, I watched a bullfinch in the apple tree. It's only the second one I've seen in the garden.

Later, in Hawick, we walked the extensive high street and found a variety of interesting clubs, theatres and museums but also a goodly number of empty shops. The blight of high street decline is here too. Interesting day out though. Oh....we stopped for a refreshment in the Queen's Head pub and found it to be a most acceptable hostelry.
