Highland Cattle

We set off this morning to Woodbury Castle where we were meeting up with our friends.  We hadn't seen them for some time so it was good to spend the day on a walk with them.  The day started with coffee and cake by the cars and then we explored the hill fort before heading out on a walk across the commons to Bystock Pools.  It was a walk we hadn't done for sometime so it took awhile to establish the route we were looking for that took in the various bunkers from old military uses.  Despite the weather being mainly cloudy there were some lovely views across to the sea, see extra.  

We made it to Bystock Pools where we ate our sandwiches and then returned through the nature reserve in a more straightforward way.  On our way back we came across several Highland Cattle enjoying their hay.

It was good to catch up with our friends and it was just about the right length of walk with a lot of variety of scenery.  We then returned home for a cup of tea.  Not sure what happened to the forecast sun today although there was a slight sunset colour in the sky later on.  An enjoyable day out.
