In Memory

of my grandfather who would have been 98 today!

I was the eldest grandchild and Grandad was 83 years old and passed away, when I was thirty something.

The memories are still as strong as ever, and I remember him with great fondness. He was an amateur photographer, and many members of the family got cross with the length of time he took to compose a photograph.

I was very proud when he and my Nana gave me my first ever camera, and maybe instilled in me the love of photography which has grown very much in recent years after being introduced to blip.

He wasn't very technologically minded, except for 'timings' and 'checking the meter' of the old type of camera....

Of course his type of photography was mainly family orientated and then I suppose the camera only came out when family were visiting. I know he had his own darkroom and did a lot of fiddling there, but doing what I'm not that sure. We only ever saw the 'printed' photographs and certainly nothing apart from family shots.

I wonder what he would have thought of blip?

He used to also mend clocks and watches in his spare time (my Grandmother used to get very annoyed with the 'mess'!) and was a printer by trade after the war. During the war he was involved in some 'secret' work on Shetland but I'm not sure exactly what!

Cabbage white on lavender today blippers, another one in my folio (two)!

Its a very hot day and I've got to work later on. Guess who's taking her own fan to work again!!! Looking forward to my holiday beginning at the end of next week...

Happy Thursday folks :)
