Good news and not-so-good news this morning. The good news was that a whole swarm of men in hi-viz jackets, a couple of big lorries and a steam roller were on our road.
They were fixing our numerous potholes!!
I stopped to congratulate them.
The not-so-good news was that our garden gate, which had begun to wobble and misbehave, finally fell off! Weirdly, the top hinge had been put on hanging down, giving absolutely no support to the heavy iron gate. So when the wooden post eventually rotted and loosened at the bottom, that was the end of that.
I’m going to get a quote from a handyman, just to see what ridiculous price they quote, but really, I could fix it myself if I had a drill… might ask the neighbour - he’s got a huge bag of tools…
After my chores, and taking Archie out (twice) I had a wander down town. I got some really good bargains in one of the cheap shops 50% Off closing down sale: batteries, kitchen light bulbs, WD40, and a new extendable window washer pole (£1.50) for JR.
Quite enjoying ‘The Diplomat’ at the second attempt.
