Hopefully, by offering to do the moving and scraping and whatnot to investigate the extent and size of any potential former fireplace behind the telly, no delicate electrical equipment nor carpets nor furniture will be covered in plaster and brick dust, nor any bags of bits of plaster and dust left anywhere other than in a sealed bin bag in a dry place. It'll need another go next weekend to see if the line which I suspect to be the plate boundary between two types of plaster marking the former extent of a mantelpiece is actually the point where there was a really big fireplace, rather than the normal-sized 2ft by 3ft breezeblocked-up hole already located.
