Quod oculus meus videt

Christmas Flowers

Hard to believe that these flowers are still going strong, three weeks after they were bought as a small Christmas gift.  Perhaps leaving them in a cool conservatory and then the porch had something to do with it.

I took a test drive in a Ford Explorer today.  This was the all new British version, an electric vehicle. not the American version. While very impressive I found the ride to be a lot less comfortable than my current car and the 12 inch 'infotainment' screen that sits in front of the dashboard, between the two front seats was just way over the top.  Everything is controlled from there, even things like the heater, radio, sat nav, a myriad of drive modes, phone, etc.

When I got back into the relative calmness of my car, I just wondered why these modern vehicles need such large, touch-screen space. I have also thought myself as a technophile, but as I get older I think I'm changing. Later I visited a showroom with the updated version of my current car and was much happier with the restrained implementation of new technology. Still to make a decision, but I think I know which way I'm leaning.
